Homework for November 30
Today in class we continued working on unit 2 Young People Today. We learned various ways of presenting survey results. The table on p. 23 provides useful expressions of reporting survey results and p. 28 gives examples of visual aids.
For our next class, you need to do the following:
1. As a preparation for your presentation about a survey, choose a survey topic. Then brainstorm survey questions you can ask about the topic. Write 3-5 survey questions. To help you do it, please use Brainstorming on p. 30.
After you have decided on your survey questions, type them, print them out and bring them to class.
2. Learn how to prepare visual aids using a computer.
a) Watch the PowerPoint Presentation on making visual aids on a computer. Click HERE.
b) Now, make a visual aid (a graph or a chart) for the following information.
"In Japan, 71 percent of high school girls consider themselves to be overweight, the survey showed. That was higher than 57 percent in South Korea, 39 percent in China and 29 percent in the United States."
c) Make a graph or a chart showing the results of the mini-survey you conducted today (November 16) in class. (Exercise 3 on p. 23)
After you have finished making the two visual aids, please e-mail them to me at brylko@yahoo.com
Deadline for e-mailing your visual aids to me is Monday, November 28.
3. Please, go to Vocabulary (on the top of the blog, next to Home) where you can see a list of words and useful expressions for each unit.
If you have any questions, please come by my office or contact me via e-mail.
See you in class on November 30! :)
