Homework for October 26

For next class, you need to prepare a presentation about a personal motto. To help you prepare for the presentation, please do the following:

1. Do Exercise 1 Brainstorming on page 18 in the textbook. The exercise will help you generate ideas/topics for your presentation.

2. After finishing the brainstorming notes from Exercise 1, complete the outline of your presentation on page 19 (Exercise 2 Organizing).

3. Make note cards from your outline. See page 16 for the "dos and don'ts" of making and using note cards. Remember to use Language Summary to help you prepare your notes.

4. Practice your presentation.

You will give your presentation to the class next Thursday, October 26. Remember to use clear, organized notes as a reference when you speak. You should not memorize your presentation!

See you next Thursday!

Homework for October 19, 2011

For our next class, please do the following:

1. p. 11, ex. 3 (A). Think of an experience when a motto helped you. Make notes on a separate piece of paper or in your notebook. Write down the following:
  • motto
  • the experience
  • what you did
Remember to write your thoughts down in a note form. NO COMPLETE SENTENCES, PLEASE!

You are asked to do this in preparation for a task you'll be doing in class next week. Also, you can use this simple exercise as a step toward a presentation about your personal motto that you will do at the end of Unit 1.

2. pp.14-15, Presentation Focus.

See you in class next week!
